TIMES NIE Pottery Workshop

TIMES NIE POTTERY WORKSHOP – 31 Jan 2017

A pottery workshop was organized by the TIMES NIE in the TAFS Junior school, on 31 Jan 2017 for the students of classes IV & V who are NIE subscribers. The workshop aimed at making the children aware of the handicrafts culture of India and pottery as a creative medium of expression other than being an occupation, a small scale industry, an interesting hobby and a stress-buster therapy. The children eagerly tried their hands at pottery and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. This workshop helped enhance the hand-eye coordination while working, kinesthetic learning, value of patience and concentration.

    Class I – Show and Tell Activity (31 Jan 2017)

    On Tuesday 31 Jan 2017, Class I children participated in a ‘Show and Tell’ activity on the theme ‘Things you see in the sky’. Students dressed as rainbows, stars, moon, fighter planes, butterflies, hot air balloon etc. represented things found in the sky. It was truly a delight to watch them speak confidently with actions. This activity not only helped them to improve their oratory skills but also in learning about the topic and buil;ding confidence.

      Class UKG - Show and Tell Activity

      Class UKG – Show and Tell Activity (31 Jan 2017)

      The kindergartners of the Air Force School enthusiastically participated in the show and tell activity organized for them on 31 Jan 2017. The theme of the activity was ‘Flowers’. Flowers are God’s finest workmanship in the world. It is a gift to mankind. The children were very exited to represent their favourite flower and speak a few lines about it. The representations included the national flower lotus, bright and yellow sunflower, sweet smelling roses, colourful and elegant tulips, dangling daffodils, pretty daisies and the simple and fragrant jasmine. The activity was followed by a flower dance, drawing, colouring and a nature walk. Modules were shown to provide the information that fruits are formed from flowers, the seeds inside helps to form a new plant. The activity helped them to develop oration skills, build confidence  and enhanced the general awareness.

        Special Assembly - Class XII

        Special Assembly

        Class 12

        “Goodbyes are not forever,
        Goodbyes are not the end.
        They simply mean I’ll miss you,
        Until we meet again.”

        The Class 12 batch was bid farewell by the 6th graders on 27 January,2017 at Senior wing TAFS. A special surprise assembly was presented by the 6th class to leave an indelible mark on the memory of the outgoing batch. 

        To make their day memorable a rainbow of events were beautifully executed by the 6th graders. Sending across the message of traversing the path of progress with sheer dint of effort and unbound enthusiasm through a soulful song , knitting together a mosaic of cherished moments spent by the 12th graders through the medium of a skit , dedicating a heart warming poem as an ode to the students and giving personalised good luck cards for a beautiful journey ahead were the highlights of the special assembly. 

        The  juniors conveyed their heartfelt gratitude to the seniors. 

        The chords of the heart of  12th class students were stirred by thisthoughtful surprise assembly presented by the 6th class. The 12th graders took back with them a bag full of mixed emotions.

          Visit to Asola Bhatii Wildlife Sanctuary

          Visit to Asola Bhatii Wildlife Sanctuary

           

          The eco club of The Air Force School, Subroto Park Delhi had organized a visit to Asola Bhatii Wildlife Sanctuary, New Delhi on 25/01/17 for the students of Eco Club of class IX and X to educate them about nature.  Students under the guidance of their teacher and guide went for the nature’s trail. The Sanctuary with its beautiful landscape provided an excellent opportunity to all of us to learn about the nature. While trekking we enjoyed viewing of wildlife, Bird watching and studied about floral wealth. They aim to conserve Herbal plants, Butterflies and other birds and animals and they have achieved success in their work to a certain extent. Overall it was fun filled and knowledge gaining experience for all of us.

            National Bravery Award Ceremony

            The TAFS School choir had the rare distinction of giving a performance before Honourable Prime Minister Sh. Narender Modi on Monday January 23, 2017. The occasion was the National Bravery Award Ceremony where the Prime Minister presented National Bravery Awards to 25 children from different parts of the country who have been selected for the honour by the Indian Council for Child Welfare (ICCW).

            Addressing the audience of brave hearts the Prime Minister said “Bravery is a state of mind, a healthy body helps, but the prime moving force is the mind.”

            During the interaction Modi reminded the children about the significance of the day – January 23, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose’s birth anniversary. He urged them to read as much as possible.

              Republic Day Celebrations - Junior Wing

              REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATIONS- JUNIOR WING

                      The Junior School celebrated the country’s 68th Republic Day on 25 Jan 2017 with great enthusiasm and zeal. A great show was put up by the students of class III C, D and E. The programme started with a patriotic song by the school choir followed by a glimpse of parade representing the three defense forces of India. Children performed on three different themes which were - ‘Swachch Bharat’, ‘Conservation of Resources’ and ‘Unity in Diversity’. Different tableaus on these themes were depicted by the children as action songs, drama and dance. The programme culminated with a folk dance representing the rich culture of India.

                  Poster Making Competition - Class VIII

                  POSTER MAKING COMPETITION

                  The Department of Chemistry organized a poster making competition on 19th January, 2017 in the school premises for the students of class 8th. The theme of the competition was  

                  ‘CHEMISTRY : REDEFINING LIVES’

                  Three students from each section of class 8th participated in the competition with great enthusiasm. The topic was chosen to expose the young buds to the miracles of chemistry which are redefining their lives in one way or the other.

                  Children participated earnestly in the competition. They came up with amazing creativity. Their efforts and initiative was appreciated by one and all. Each of the posters prepared by the children was a treat to the eyes.

                    Chemistry Department conducted ‘Jingle on the Way’ activity for each section of class-VI. Students participated enthusiastically & presented the jingle on the topic ‘Conservation of Water’ in an elaborate manner. They exhibited their knowledge by putting music to the scientific words.

                      Aptitude & Career: Class X Workshop

                      Aptitude & Career : Class X workshop

                       

                      The Students of class X were participants to a comprehensive Career and Learning workshop which covered all aspects of academic, studying and stream selection.

                      The workshop started with an Aptitude, Ability and personality workshop by Mr.Jayendra and Mr.Gaurav from Studymate organisation.The workshop also included a personality subject match assessment, that was individually attempted by each Child.

                      The Aim of the interaction and assessment was to make the children aware of possible strength and weakness in personality or subject areas.

                      The students concentrated well and performed the assessment with sincerity. Thereafter Mr.Jayendra spoke on how consistency in academic subjects can effect aptitude judgement.

                      The second series of workshop, was taken by Ms.Ashima Verma, the school counselor and Ms. Aanchal Dewan ,psychology teacher on the various Memory techniques, subject learning and aptitude skills required for class X.

                      The workshop was interactive with powerpoint and videos integrated to make students aware of career Guidance.

                      The Children were curious and enlightened about the various careers and subject skills, to focus well on the upcoming exams alongwith deciding better for their stream choice.

                      TAFS would continue holding various skill based workshops to make children aware of their ability and potential.
