EARTH DAY CELEBRATIONS JUNIOR SCHOOL (22-25 APRIL 2019)

“Earth provides enough to satisfy every man’s need, but not every man’s greed.”- Mahatma Gandhi

TAFS Junior wing celebrated Earth day with a view to remind ourselves what our mother Earth has given us and also reiterate in what ways we can contribute to save our resources and be more environment friendly. Children were encouraged to do their bit by acting ‘now’ to protect our environment before it’s too late. Honouring the great saint Gandhiji’s feelings, the children of Primary Wing were motivated to come up with innovative ideas and use resources around them in the best possible way to celebrate Earth Day week in the school from 22 April to 25 April 2019. The activities were planned with the objective of making them realise that it is our obligation to take care of this world we all share and demonstrate our support for environmental protection. The children were made aware of climate change, endangered species, perils of plastic and scarcity of water in the future.

For the year 2019, the Earth Day theme is 'Protect our Species'. The children were encouraged to contribute their bit in saving the millions of species on the planet with utmost regard to the one and only place they call home, PLANET EARTH. Children enthusiastically participated in activities that included song, skit, group discussions and art and craft activities. Earth wall hangings with  messages on different ways to save earth , leaf printing, making head bands, badges showing ‘helping hands’, paper bags and folders out of old newspapers inspired by the Mantra of ‘Reduce, Reuse, Recycle’, were made and displayed by different classes. Class V planted trees and each class adopted a tree each taking a pledge to take care of ‘their tree’ throughout the year. The children were reminded that EVERY DAY IS AN EARTH DAY and the purpose of celebrating Earth Day is to help sustain our Earth for the future generations and keep our skies, land and water pollution free.
