CHALLENGE PREVENTION:
With the Growing Digital influence, online
security and teenagers are constantly under influence, with the latest being Blue whale challenge.
Hence, In an effort to sensitise parents
towards the growing cyber threats encountered by students, we at the Air Force
School are attaching The circular details from ‘Guidelines for Safe and Effective Use of
Internet and Digital Technologies in Schools and Blue Whale Advisory’ as
given by CBSE for your reference:
WHAT IS THE BLUE WHALE CHALLENGE?
Blue Whale is an online game that invites
potential teenagers & asks them to Commit dangerous tasks like self hurt, to
suicide.
ACCESS TO
GAME
Any Child who is active on social media may get
a pop up window invite that children accept.It is not visible or downloadable.
WHAT ARE
THE TASKS IN THE GAME?
Tasks are dangerous in
nature, intended to make a child depressed,like:
*Carve a
whale on hand, with a razor.
*Wake up at 4am & listen to scary songs.
*Jump from a high building.
*Overcome your fear, hurt yourself.
*Sit at the edge of roof.
*Watch horror movies.
GOVERNMENT’S ROLE ON THE GAME:
Government
took active steps to stop& Ban any social site from using the blue
whale title. However, munder new names like 4am,sea of whales” the game still
sends invite mails. Thus children must be made aware to stay away from these e
invites.
AGE GROUP
EFFECTED:
*Teenagers mostly aged 12-19yrs.
SIGNS/ SYMPTOMS
TO LOOK OUT FOR :
*Social isolation of the child.
*Depressed or tired often.
*Sleep disturbance.
*Eating difficulty.
*No friends or support system.
HOW YOU
CAN TAKE PREVENTIVE STEPS:
*Have a direct talk about
the game and offer support.
*Make sure online sites are monitored.Password
protect sites that you see dangerous.
*Talk to the child about internet and what
he/she does daily at the site.
*Keep updated and talk to other parents.
*Observe your child's behaviour. Any mood, emotion
or unusual cuts etc to be reported.
*Inform Local police if any such invite is
accessed and child is found using it.

WORK & SUPPORT SYSTEM :
Keep in touch with any of the following
reported by the teachers:
*Regular Academic grade check.
*Behaviour in school, spl. violence or
aggressive in nature.
*Your child’s peer circle & influence.
*No gadgets in School.
*Parent must inform teachers of online activity
of the child, if exceeds regular use.
*Encourage direct communication with the child
on any cyber incident.
