MILK DAY CELEBRATION

MILK DAY CELEBRATION - CLASSES UKG-2

To mark the National Milk Day, which falls on November 26th, TAFS Junior Wing organised lots of fun filled learning activities for the students during their virtual classes. This day is celebrated to commemorate Dr. Varghese Kurien's birthday who is credited with bringing about India's 'White Revolution' and making the largest self-sustaining industry, the dairy farm, in India.

During this week young TAFSians not only discussed and learned about the importance of milk in their growth but also learned to identify various milk products they eat during the day. They also expressed appreciation for their parents’ efforts in ensuring at least a glass of health, for them, every morning. They even shared the importance of milk one by one.

The children of UKG enjoyed having a glass of milk with their classmates. They enjoyed moo… songs like (gaiya meri gaiya) to add to the fun!

Class 1 children were shown a video on Milk Day, they talked about their favourite milk products (cheese, paneer, curd) and why they liked it.

The students of class 2 flaunted their tiffin with numerous milk products. They enthusiastically spoke about the dishes like milk cakes, paneer sandwiches and other mouth watering and healthy recipes. Teachers took this opportunity to introduce them to several body building food items.

The objective of this celebration was to create awareness about health and importance of calcium in their growing years  with a special focus on development of language skills.

        CHILDREN’S DAY CELEBRATIONS

        CHILDREN’S DAY CELEBRATIONS (14 NOVEMBER 2024)

Children’s Day is celebrated on 14 November every year in India. It’s the birth anniversary of    Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru, fondly called Chacha Nehru, and the first Prime Minister of independent India. He was very fond of children and hence the day is dedicated to the children of the country.

On this special occasion, our Junior Wing organized fun activities and games for the children. The UKG children had a Picnic Day at school and enjoyed lots of hands-on activities and fun games.

Class 1 children came dressed as their favourite fruit/vegetable and spoke convincingly about the goodness of whatever they represented. Class 2 children came in Fancy Dresses of different professions and spoke confidently about themselves and what they chose to represent.

Class 3 students had a story dramatization activity which was great fun. The students of classes 4 and 5 children enjoyed an outdoor game of Dodge Ball.

Special fun play equipment was installed in the playground area for all students, which included markers, cones, hurdles, speed rings and agility poles. The children participated in an array of activities around this installation with great vigour and excitement.

It was a festive atmosphere at school and the celebration fostered joy and camaraderie among the children. The thrill of being a child was seen in all its glory at school.

Celebrating Childhood: Special Assembly for Grades 6-8 on Children’s Day

Celebrating Childhood: Special Assembly for Grades 6-8 on Children’s Day

This Children’s Day, TAFS brought together the students of Grades 6 to 8 for a special assembly brimming with joy, laughter, and a few surprises. The day began on a warm, reflective note with a morning prayer led by the teachers. Soon after, Ms. Geetanjali shared a few words on the historical significance of the day, highlighting how Pandit Nehru’s enduring love for children is celebrated across India each year.

The poem recitation by Ms. Prachi brought to life the essence of classroom life- capturing all those funny, sometimes mischievous moments of ‘classroom masti’ that students know so well! The recital was followed by the teachers’ much-anticipated skit, “Masti ki Paathshaala,” a lighthearted take on the daily classroom drama that had everyone laughing. The next surprise was a musical performance; the teachers sang the nostalgic classic “Aa Chal Ke Tujhe,” filling the room with warmth and memories.

A video presentation brought to life moments from students’ own classrooms, evoking smiles, and laughter as everyone remembered their favorite memories. The morning concluded with the principal- Ms. Lomina Rajiv’s address, delivered with her trademark warmth, where she reminded the students, “I am there, beta.” The Children’s Day assembly was a joyful, heartwarming celebration of the unique bond between students and teachers at TAFS, and a reminder that these school days are as special to us as they are to you!

VISIT TO THE NATIONAL PHILATELIC MUSEUM, DAK BHAWAN – CLASS IV

VISIT TO THE NATIONAL PHILATELIC MUSEUM, DAK BHAWAN – CLASS IV

              (5TH – 8TH NOVEMBER 2024)

The National Philatelic Museum situated in Dak Bhawan, Sardar Patel Chowk, Sansad Marg, in New Delhi, India was established in 2011. The museum is located on the ground floor of Dak Bhawan and is run by the Department of Post.

The students of class IV visited the National Philatelic Museum on 5th, 6th & 8th November in groups of approximately 70 students. Every group was given a guided tour of the museum.

All Commemorative Postage Stamps issued by Department of Post since independence in 1947 are displayed in chronological order in the Museum. Thematic stamps, all having a brief write up, under specific themes are displayed in the Thematic Section. The Museum is equipped with audio-visual facility and even has a small amphitheatre!

There is also a souvenir shop inside the museum. A wide range of philatelic ancillaries sourced from all across the country are available for sale at the souvenir shop. Further, My Stamp printing facility is also available at the Museum.

The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 emphasizes experiential learning, the process of learning by doing. By engaging students in hands-on experiences and reflection, they are better able to connect theories and knowledge learned in the classroom to real-world situations.

The purpose of the visit was to introduce the students to the world of stamps and to enhance their knowledge about postal history and related artefacts. Upon entering the museum, the students were greeted by a fascinating world of stamps and the immense postal history of India. Various activities like designing your own stamps and writing a postcard to your principal were all conducted.

As the old saying goes ‘A Day at the museum is a day well spent’
